Maricopa County Juvenile Probation Internship - Filled for Spring 2026

Description: Unpaid

Ensuring justice-involved youth are provided an opportunity to learn from their past decisions and are supported in their journey toward well-being and the avoidance of further court involvement.

ADMINISTRATIVE INTERNSHIP | OPPORTUNITIES
• Hope Closet: interns will assist with our on-site resource closets, which provide probation youth and their families with clothing, toiletries, and other essential resources.
• Department Initiatives and Programs: may include marketing, data generation/tracking, audits, research, reaching out to stakeholders, and other project management-type duties.
• Journey.do: interns will assist with several aspects of this online platform designed for justice-involved youth to fill unmet criminogenic needs. Duties include youth story reviews with strength-based responses, creation of Growth Plans, data tracking and more.
• Detention: interns may be given opportunities to engage in supervised programming and tutoring supports for detained youth. Interns will also have opportunities to shadow detention officers.
• Probation: interns will be given opportunities to work with and/or shadow a variety of units throughout the probation department.

DETENTION TUTORING INTERNSHIP | OPPORTUNITIES

• Tutoring: interns’ primary duty will be supervised one-on-one tutoring of youth in a classroom setting.
o GED prep. Elementary and high school level subjects.
• Exposure: to collaborating with detention professionals and what it means to work in a secure care setting.
• Rapport Building: interns will have daily supervised direct contact with detained youth.
• Journey.do: interns will assist with responding to stories in platform when time permits.
• Create and facilitate: an activity or interactive class involving a topic related to positive youth development in a classroom setting.
